ON BEING GROUNDED

by Bill Cumming

To be grounded is to experience that we live in a miracle at all times and under all circumstances.

People who have no experience of being loved absolutely and without condition, of their value or power, must experience these things in order for possibility to exist.

Once you experience the ever-present nature of the miracle, what to do in any situation is clear.

Loving-kindness is what is required in every situation.

Unwellness cannot be corrected.

Unless a person experiences that they are loved absolutely and without condition, they will never know the heart space that experience produces.

You cannot give unconditional love unless you experience it.

All damage is caused by one of two things, a naturally occurring part of human existence, such as an earthquake or a tornado or the damage that arises from a person who is unwell.

Unwell here defined as a person who does not experience their own value and therefore meters out their unwellness on self and others.

There are no “victims,” only situations caused by these two conditions that must be dealt with.

Being of use to another requires an absolute lack of “sympathy” for their circumstances.

When people have been hurt, physically, mentally or emotionally, they often require us to “hear” that there has been pain.

To ignore the condition of the other is to be indifferent and therefore not of particular use.

Empathy and loving-kindness are powerful tools and allies.

Pain exists, suffering is optional.

If I know that my value and worth is a given, I never take the actions of others or nature personally.

Naturally caused events and the damage created by people who are unwell have nothing to do with the people who are affected by them.

Some “acts of nature” are directly connected to the irresponsible things we have done to the planet (our immediate environment).

Irresponsibility toward the environment is a sign of unwellness.

Speaking ill of another person is demonstration of unwellness.

All damage is caused by people who have no experience of their value and worth in the world.

Who people are has nothing to do with their behaviors, actions, achievements or attitudes.

All people are simply part of the miracle and to be treated as such.

Unwell people are likely to damage themselves and others.

The care and nurturing of children is our most important responsibility.

Why is it that we license people to operate vehicles and not to raise children.

There is no one to blame.

All there is is taking responsibility.

We have not yet decided to create a planet that works for everyone.

Many unwell people are not interested in creating a planet for everyone.

Thinking you are brighter than another is an indication of insecurity and fear.

Thinking that your position makes you better or more important is a sign of insecurity and fear.

Any judgment or evaluation of another means you have completely misunderstood the nature of the miracle.

Every single action, word and thought is either a demonstration of loving-kindness or other.
