The idea of “enemy” vanishes and is replaced by the notion of someone who is suffering and needs your compassion.

There has been another school shooting in Colorado.
And again, a cry of disbelief arises from the media.
How could this happen?
Who is to blame?.
What will it take for every single person to realize that ALL of the damage is caused by EACH ONE OF US not seeing our responsibility in the matter?
EVERY MATTER!
Each time we speak in a damaging way about another person, we are actually revealing
our own fear and insecurity.
Each time we refuse to do that ourselves or allow others to do so in our presence, we bring
forth the possibility of healing for everyone involved.
Why is it we think the “rightness” of our position means we are better than any other being?
What causes you (and me) to be trapped is what we call personal importance. Personal importance, or taking things personally, is the maximum expression of selfishness because we make the assumption that everything is about “me”.
Nothing other people do is because of you.
