Have you ever adopted a dog that had been abused
before you took care of her/him?
If you watch carefully, even as they grow in comfort with their new surroundings,
there is an immediate reaction to raised hands or voices in their vicinity.
When they see that there is no current harm headed their way,
they usually return to a calm and connected demeanor.
Why is it that it appears more difficult for humans to make that same adjustment?
January 18th is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in the U.S.
While I never met Dr. King, it was very reassuring to know he was on the planet,
doing his work, day to day.
