Because my Father was born in Edinburg, Scotland, we grew up very aware of the Second World War, the shadow of which cast itself across our consciousness as children. There were books, especially ones with pictures of the city of London, destroyed.
During my first and recent visit, every place I looked in that city, produced a sense of awe toward the human spirit. Is there anything we cannot do, if we set our minds to it?
A man that served his country bravely by every standard we set during the Vietnam war told me he could not forgive himself for the way he treated the bodies of his enemies after death.
I wonder why it is we think we can diminish the worth of one human at any moment and think it will not come home to roost?
