Accessing The Power Within is Our Purpose

by Bill Cumming

The Boothby Institute is about some very specific and clear objectives. Here is the essence of our reason for being:

1. Individuals experiencing that they are loved absolutely and unconditionally, that their value is a given (has nothing to do with good deeds, achievements or great damage committed) and that there is always a choice.(The capacity for each of these things exists in all people and if they have no direct experience of it, the capacity will never be manifested.)

2. A world that works for everyone. All have food, shelter and know that they are loved, powerful, capable, able and have the skills necessary to produce a life of value and purpose.

3. There is no violence, nor damage to people or the environment.

4. It is our experience that items 2 & 3 are dependent on item #1.

5. People who experience themselves as loved, worthy and able to choose rarely damage themselves or others and never so intentionally.

In short, the goal is to have enough wellness in as large a group as it takes to insure a planet that works for everyone.

Recently, I have heard a great deal about the idea that the wellness of the planet is not our job. Utter horse pucky. We have been given the capacity. So, whose job is it? Is our job is simply to work on our own equanimity, balance and well-being, while achieving goals we see as useful to us? One of my favorite descriptions of what I am pointing toward comes from Marianne Williamson:

“That’s the greatest miracle, and ultimately the only one: that you awaken from the dream of separation and become a different kind of person. People are constantly concerning themselves with what they do: have I achieved enough, written the greatest screenplay, formed the most powerful company? But the world will not be saved by another great novel, great movie, or great business venture. It will only be saved by the appearance of great people.

Until we’re healed of our internal demons, our fearful mental habits, we will turn every situation into the same painful drama as the one before. Everything we do is infused with the energy with which we do it. If we’re frantic, life will be frantic. If we’re peaceful, life will be peaceful.

So we work within the worldly illusion, politically, socially, environmentally, etc., but we recognize that the real transformation of the world comes not from what we are doing, but from the consciousness with which we’re doing it.

The past is over. It doesn’t matter who we are, where we came from, what Mommy said, what Daddy did, what mistakes we made, what diseases we have, or how depressed we feel. The future can be reprogrammed in this moment. We don’t need another seminar, another degree, another lifetime, or anyone’s approval in order for this to happen… There can be a new beginning, a life unlike the past. Our relationships shall be made new. Our careers shall be made new. Our bodies shall be made new. Our planet shall be made new.”

If you are interested in developing a profound sense of your own worth in the world, knowing that you are loved without question and that there is always a choice, call us. If you want a hospital that is conscious and where every employee oozes compassion and loving kindness, call us. If you want a business where loving-kindness and fairness govern all decisions, call us. If you want a school where all are loved and valued and young people know that the school is about the opportunity for them to create meaningful, productive, creative, joyous lives and have the tools necessary to do so, call us. If you want to deal with environments of great damage and violence, like war or rape, call us.

And there is more.

Religions that speak or act as if theirs was the only way have no relationship to anything I associate with a world that works for everyone. Being right is a demonstration of insecurity and fear, not any “divine” wisdom. Thich Nhat Hanh says it best and please send loving-kindness and healing energy to him as he recovers his health:

“Until there is peace between religions, there can be no peace in the world.”

Those who speak about inspiring, motivating, teaching or empowering anyone have no idea how to support the development of another individual. We have the ability to be inspired, motivated and empowered and thus create environments where others can choose to be all of those things. In the moment we take ANY RESPONSIBILITY for those achievements, we have diminished another.

None of this is going to happen without huge discipline and persistent energy from a very large group of people.

We don’t need another belief system, organization to join or “movement.” We need people committed having all people come to know that they are loved, their value is a given and there is always a choice.

If you know you are loved without condition, you can feel it in your heart, actually in your whole body. You also know immediately when you are in the presence of a person who loves you and wants only the best for you.
You know it intuitively.

With all the love in my heart and every blessing!

Namaste!
