From the heart of Grace M. Smith
Have you ever noticed when your friends or children are overworked, up too late with homework, sleepy or achy, thirsty, hungry or in need of a truly loving presence or listening ear, you respond with either an offer of a glass of water, some food, a walk or a pillow to ease the physical ache, a kind suggestion to get some sleep, finish stuff up tomorrow or a loving listening ear regarding their situation?
How would it be if you treated yourself with the same wonderful degree of loving-kindness?

Some years ago, I saw an ant; its tiny body scurrying across the hot cement. I wondered to myself, do ants feet get hot? The more I experience in life, the less I realize I really know. We live in such a vast universe. How does the ant feel when it is far up a tree? Perhaps just as we might if we climbed Mount Everest? So many questions. But it’s not just about ants, it’s about life.
What will you explore this week from the space of loving-kindness, listening and curiosity?

Today I chose to be present to sensations and sounds. I closed my eyes and could hear birds, in the trees, the wind from the fan. I can feel my heart beat in my fingertips, in a way I can hear the vibration of the heart beat in my hands through my body. When I was a child I used to see if I could hear the directional change of wind in the trees.
I often wonder how much of life I truly miss, sometimes I think I am present, and then I discover a whole new aspect of the miracle we live in, some detail, a whole new world I never noticed before.
What new world within the one you know well have you noticed this week?
What tiny miracles have you discovered in your own body or in nature?
