Christmas Courteousness

Relatively early on Christmas morning, I drove the three hours from central Maine to Dorchester, just south of Boston, where Joy lives. The entire ride I was aware of an unusual courteousness on the roads. People were signaling, not cutting people off. I wondered whether it was my imagination. Turns out it was not, others noticed the phenomenon. By that evening, the driving and the drivers were back to normal.

I wonder why, if we are able to do something for a few hours, and we are,

we choose not to do it for a few lifetimes?
