Enlightened Capitalism

According to Forbes magazine, the 400 richest people in the world hold assets equivalent to the assets of half of the population of the planet.

While I support freedom, capitalism and democracy, how will we explain to our children and grand children that given this statistic, roughly 40,000 people died needlessly today (and every day) from hunger and persistent starvation?

Help Me Understand

Historically, in Somalia, during periods of drought and hunger, the poorer tribes used to be able to get assistance and food from the wealthier ones.  Now that the country is divided along religious lines between Islamic and Christian traditions, no one is providing that emergency aid.

Can anyone please tell me how any of this is a reflection of God or Allah?

I wonder when and where we will address why we have not chosen to end shelter and hunger as issues for all people?
